We forecast with puhub models.

Temperature analysis, surface physics and the precipitation forecast are built on our own models; seven-day forecast candidates are checked against measurements every day.

1 km analysis

Weather is computed for every square kilometre separately.Optimal interpolation based on observations and the MEPS background field. 410 temperature and 269 wind observation points across the grid.

The temperature analysis combines weather-station observations with the MEPS 2.5 km background field.

How we measure accuracy

Observations are combined with the model background field using optimal interpolation on a 1 km grid.

The 17.9% smaller error was measured in 108,812 independent checks. In each check, one weather station was excluded from the analysis and the result was compared with that station’s actual observation.

The comparison is against the model's raw output, not the Weather Service's published forecast, which is post-processed separately.

Precipitation forecast

Shows where the rain moves over the next day.Precipitation areas are detected automatically from radar imagery and advected by optical flow.

Seven-day forecast

A weather forecast up to seven days ahead. Every computation passes an automatic accuracy check.We check the Puhub Ilmalabor forecast and 11 comparison models at the same weather stations and valid times. Our weather model combines the strengths of different forecast models. We save forecasts before observations arrive and later check how accurately they matched Estonian weather stations.
